Awesome Summer Activities for Kids in Calgary

Little Free Library

Visit a Little Free Library location and swap a gently used book.
These brilliant doll house looking libraries are popping up all around Calgary!

The concept: Leave a book or two you no longer want and take a book! Located in neighbourhoods all around Calgary, it’s a great way to get kids out and exploring their neighbourhood while teaching them about “the honor system” and getting a new book to read! These dogs are sure to amaze with their tricks at this year’s Disco Dogs show. Shows daily from July 4-13 at noon, 2:30, 5:00 and 7:30pm. Located in the Upper Level, Hall A of the Big Four Building. You can pick up your free show tickets at the SuperDogs tent at the North end of the Big Four Building up to 10 minutes before show time.

Have you tried geocaching yet?
A nanny recently informed me of this new phenomenon where people hide little containers, called geocaches, around Calgary and then list the GPS coordinates on the geochaching.com website. The thought: take something, leave something. It’s like going on a treasure hunt! Some can be really tricky to find so be sure to read on the website each on cache page about the size and difficulty and any comments left if other people have visited that geocache before heading out. Most smartphones have a GPS built in so you can use that or the caching app to find your target. Careful….this can be addicting!
