PRE-SCREENING (Take a Peek Behind The Curtain)
Our Extraordinary Human Resources team screens submissions from hundreds of nannies each week. Only applicants with extensive childcare experience receive an appointment for an interview.
Requirements:
Placement nanny applicants must provide copies of the following documents before an interview may be scheduled:
- Nannies on Call Extraordinary Nanny Application Form (6 pages) – detailed personal information, preferences & work experience
- Nannies on Call Extraordinary Nanny Reference Contact Form – direct contact information for 2 to 5 childcare-related references. Family members are not considered satisfactory references (occasionally special circumstances apply).
- Proof of legal authorization to work in Canada (including photo ID)
- Two written childcare-related reference letters
- A current First Aid/CPR Certificate or proof of registration in an upcoming class
- A clear Criminal Record Check
- Driver’s License (if nanny drives)
- Driving Record (with notes if any violations)
The Interview:
Nanny applicants are interviewed in person – in every city. We never conduct interviews by phone. During the 60-minute session we carefully assess each nanny’s values, personality, strengths and weaknesses. We take the time to get to know our applicants. (Anyone can look good on paper).
Reference Verification:
Reference verification is the last step in our pre-screening process. Following the interview, we verify a minimum of two references for each nanny we believe will uphold our Extraordinary standards. Without exception.
Our preference is always to speak directly with references by phone. We follow an in-depth questionnaire created to engage previous employers in a comfortable, confidential conversation regarding the nanny’s performance in their home. We do recognize that parents are busy professionals and may prefer to respond by email: if we’re unable to reach a reference by phone or are specifically advised email contact is preferred, we will request a response to an extensive questionnaire by email.

STEP 1 – Tell Us What You Need.
Fill out our Extraordinary Family Placement Questionnaire according to your family’s needs. Choose from 3: Full-Time, Part-Time or Short Term.
Complete, sign and return paperwork to Extraordinary Nanny Placements by email or fax.
A cheerful, experienced Extraordinary Nanny Placement Consultant contacts you within 24 hours or less. You chat about the finer details of your position and your family’s unique personality and style.
STEP 2 – Relax & Read.
This is where we get in touch with our Extraordinary Nannies. We let them know the exciting news about your wonderful family and the available position. Extraordinary Nannies are genuinely looking for the perfect fit with the perfect family – just as much as you’re carefully seeking a perfectly Extraordinary Nanny.
We only send resumes from Extraordinary Nannies we feel are suited to your home, family and position. We include a “Dear Family” cover letter: personally written by each Extraordinary Nanny – a charming and often surprising snapshot into a candidate’s personality.
Let us know which nannies you’d like to meet. We’ll set up interview appointments in your home according to your schedule. You’re welcome to meet with as many nannies as you like.
STEP 3 – Read & Sign. Done!
Ready to offer your position to our Extraordinary Nanny? Fantastic. We effortlessly handle all negotiations, draft a detailed Nanny Contract and co-ordinate revisions for you and your nanny. For permanent positions we also set up a seamless Nanny Payroll for you — all you’ll need to do on payday is print and pay. And you’re only ever a click or a call away from our exemplary On Call babysitting service: if your nanny calls in sick (oh, flu season!) we’re happy to assist with placing a temporary nanny for as long as you need.
THE IN-CASE-OF-RAIN EXTRAORDINARY GUARANTEE
Your Extraordinary Nanny Placement Fee is due only when you offer a position to our Extraordinary Nanny. We place the most devoted and dependable nannies with our families – each nanny upholds our standards and beyond. We also believe that if everyone has an umbrella in reach for unexpected showers – it simply won’t rain! With all that in mind, we created the In-Case-Of-Rain Extraordinary Guarantee:
During the first year of your placement, the In-Case-Of-Rain Extraordinary Guarantee is designed to help you quickly and efficiently in the unlikely event that either your nanny resigns or you decide to let your nanny go. Your placement is guaranteed for one year from the date your nanny starts.
