Placement FAQ’s

Have all the Nannies been pre screened?

At Nannies on Call we pride ourselves on our rigorous screening process. Each Nanny has been hand picked, and  personally interviewed by our Nanny Recruiters.  If they manage to satisfy our requirements, we continue with a criminal record check, a driving record check and reference verifications.  We also require all our Nannies to have a current First Aid Certificate. It is only after these thorough screenings that we allow our Nannies to be interviewed by our families.

Do I get to choose the nanny?  Will it be the same Nanny coming every day?

Yes! Absolutely, Nannies on Call has a varied pool of quality Nannies.  We will send the resumes and ‘dear family letters’ for suitable candidates for your review. From these resumes you can let us know who you are interested in meeting.  Once you have met your dream Nanny and have offered him/her the position, we draw up a contract.

Do your Nannies drive?  Would they drive their own car?

Roughly 60% of our Nannies drive.   You can choose to have your Nanny drive their car or the car you provide.

How much is the placement fee?  When is it due?

The placement fee is 10% of your new Nanny’s annual gross salary. This is due in full before your Nanny starts. (Minimum Fees – Short Term $900, Part Time $1,500 and Full Time $2,500)

Is the Agency fee a one-time fee or do I have to pay every year?

The Agency fee is a one time fee for that particular placement.  Whether the Nanny stays with you for one year or 10 years, you only pay once, before the Nanny starts.

How much do your Nannies make?

Our Nannies charge $15-$22 gross per hour, depending on his/her experience, education and what the job entails.

Do I pay the nanny directly or does her pay go via the agency?

You pay your Nanny directly.

Is there a fee to register?

There is no cost to register.  However, once you have interviewed two Nannies, there will be a fee of $250. This fee will be put towards your final placement fee.

Can Nannies on Call help me out with payroll?

Absolutely!  With our permanent full time placements, Nannies on Call provides payroll services free of charge for the first year.  Otherwise, our payroll services can be purchased separately.

How long does payroll last? Can I continue to you have you do our payroll after the first year?

The Payroll Service is complimentary for the first year.  It can be extended for an additional $500/year.

What happens if my Nanny quits or I don’t think he/she’s a right fit?

We have an In-Case-of-Rain Extraordinary Guarantee.  Our replacement policy is based on a year. In the unlikely event that your Nanny resigns or is terminated within the first year, you will receive a credit to apply toward your next search with Nannies on Call.

How long does the process take to get a Nanny into place?

This varies by placement; we generally ask for 4 to 6 weeks to get a Nanny into place, but we have been able to complete a placement in under a week. This depends on several factors (ie. Where you live in relation to the Nanny, whether  you need a Nanny who can drive, the ages of your children, salary offered etc)

How many resumes can I expect to see?

Depending on the job requirements, description, timing and location you can expect to see anywhere from 2 to 10 resumes.

What kind of qualifications do your Nannies have?

Many of our Nannies come to us with ECE certificates, Montessori training, Bachelors of Education or years and years of experience (which can be just as good as an education in our opinion!)

Do you place live-in Nannies?

All our Nannies are looking for living-out positions.
