Nothing is more magical than a Clydesdale-drawn sleigh ride through the quiet, snow-covered areas of Whistler Mountain. Show your children the unique experience of tradition and times-of-old when you take them for a stroll through Whistler village and the gorgeous backcountry in a carriage drawn by enormous horses. Whether you are on vacation in Whistler, or happen to live there, a horse drawn sleigh ride is an enlightening and traditional adventure that you and your children should definitely experience.
Nanny Erica had the pleasure of taking a tour of the Whistler Village on a horse drawn sleigh ride and she says that they are 40 minutes long and you and your children will enjoy the warmth of complimentary hot chocolate and a blanket during the ride. She also suggests that you bring something to keep the little ones content during the ride or prepare to keep their minds and eyes busy by talking about the things that you see. (Children must be 3 and accompanied by an adult to ride.) She also said that, along with the comforts of hot chocolate and blankets, the seats are padded for a comfy ride.
The scenic tours are even more beautiful – although they may be colder! – in the evenings. At dusk, when the evening winter sky boasts its amazing colors, these sleigh rides can be extremely romantic. Hire a nanny for the evening and enjoy some romantic time while you keep each other warm in the horse drawn sleigh. Or, bring the kids for the evening experience; that fresh air will help them sleep well that night!
